Shard View Room central London

Great location Positive: Amazing location, proactive and responsive host, actually pretty quiet given that it is in a busy area. Southwark is a vibrant part of London with a real buzz to it. Only 2 minutes from the nearest tube station (Borough). Handy to have a fridge, which was a good size. I booked a parking space at the Ibis Styles just a couple of hundred metres away. Most definitely a Shard view! Negative: The furnishings could do with being updated, especially the bath mats. I applied a filter for ‘entire homes and apartments’ and the summary was ‘the entire place is yours’ so it was a bit of a surprise to discover it was a shared bathroom. It did say so in the fuller description but I didn’t notice it when I booked, I don’t think it was obvious enough. Also the front door is on a tight spring and it’s really hard to get suitcases in and out. I tore my blouse in doing so because I had to lean against the door and it got caught on the letterbox.

Broken windows- it was up the whole time, the room faces the main road with heavy traffic, therefore sleep was impossible. Communication was poor, inadequate instructions to get into the bldg. I was only given the code to the room, not the bldg. Manager emailed me a photo copy of the emailed instructions after I asked her. I asked her multiple times to forward me the original email since I didn’t receive it, she was unable to provide. The odd request was she asked me to email my concerns to her before giving the review, I did but nothing was resolved. I would not have reserved the room knowing the noise at night was unbearable with traffic and ambulances through out the night.
